Jazz On The Sofa @ online

Tuesday March 2nd till Sunday March 7th at 20.30 o’clock (CET)

(The broadcasts can be viewed for another week with a valid ticket.)

Jazz On The Sofa presents the best jazz chamber-music and interviews with artists from the Netherlands, the United States, Canada, Mexico and Germany for a week.

In 2020 we would have celebrated our 5th anniversary with a focus on Poland. Unfortunately, this event could not take place. That is why this edition takes place as an online festival of no less than 6 days with six international acts. The concerts also come with conversations that artistic director Mark Lotz has with the performers after their performance.

A concert experience where the listener also hears the story behind the music and people

This edition sees a number of surprising acts. One focus is on young artists with concerts by guitarist and multiple prize winner Gijs Idema (winner of the Conservatory Talent Award in 2020), the Mexican bassist / vocalist Fuensanta Mendez (graduated from the Amsterdam Conservatory) and trumpet player Ruben Drenth (graduated from the Utrecht Conservatory) in duo with bassist Dion Nijland in a program about music by the Rolling Stones.

The other focus is on premieres: Jazz On The Sofa presents three premieres: a meeting between the vocalist Deborah J. Carter and the pianist Coen Molenaar . A premier by the Mark Lotz Trio, which will come up with a program around LSD guru Timothy Leary called Turn On, Tune In, Drop Out. The Artvark Saxophone Quartet will perform next to their Trance program a lot of brand new-tunes to be released on their next album.

The locations are: Van Tellingen Interieurs, Theaterzaal Kunstenhuis Zeist, Poppodium De Peppel.
